Earl Bosley, 75 of Dighton, died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998 at Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, TX. He was born Feb. 25, 1923 at Dodge City to Charles C. & Pearl Ruby (Calhoun) Bosley.

Earl moved with his family to Lane County in 1925. He graduated from Dighton High School and then served in the Glyder Division of the US Air Force during WWII. He married Jeannette Durr shortly after graduating from high school.

He returned to Lane County after serving in the war and was the owner-operator of the 24 hour Texaco Station and the Horseshoe Grill. He later was a farmer & stockman. After his retirement he raised llamas and enjoyed taking them to state and county fairs & social activities. He recently was the Activities Bus Driver for the Dighton School District.

He held memberships to the United Methodist Church of Dighton, the church choir, the Dighton American Legion Post #190, Dighton Rotary Club and was a 50 year member of these organizations: Barney masonic Lodge #279, Scottish Rite Temple of Wichita, Isis Shrine of Wichita and Order of the Eastern Star of Dighton.

Survivors include six daughters: Diana Coberly of Berkley, CA; Marilyn Latham, Topeka; Lydia Lair, San Antonio, TX; Margaret Butkus, Arlington, TX; Marie Dowell, San Antonio, TX; and Earlena Lawrence, Mesa, AZ; one son Lewie Bosley of Gove; his mother Pearl Bosley of Dighton; one brother Charles Bosley of Dighton; 8 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

The funeral service will be Sat. Sept. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Dighton. Rev. Tod Anthony will officiate. Internment will be in the Dighton Memorial Cemetery. Graveside rites will be held by the Dighton American Legion Post #190. Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton is charge of the arrangements.
