SARA (COREY) ESCH, 91, died Nov. 15, 1988 at home in Bentley Creek after an extended illness. She was the daughter of a prominent attorney and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Harry B. Corey of Troy. She was born in Gillett, PA, educated in the Troy schools and Mansfield State College. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Troy and a longtime member of the Columbia Cross Roads Birthday Club. She was also a member of Goshenhoppen Historical Society of Pennsylvania. She was a former employee of the Troy Community Hospital. She was predeceased by a brother, Harry B. Corey in 1976 and a sister, DeEtta Judson in 1987 and her husband, William Esch in 1960 who was a former hotel manager. After retiring they moved to Fort Walton Beach, FL where they operated a Tastee Freeze business until his death. Since then she has made her home with her daughter, Mary E. May in Troy and later in Bentley Creek, PA. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. Leora Newman of Fort Myers, FL and Mrs. Leola Henry of Pueblo, CO; five beloved grandchildren: Mrs. John (Carolyn) Friedrich of Pittman, NJ, Mrs. Grant (Pamela) Geiger of Bellevue, NB, Mrs. David (Sara-Jean) Geiger of Gillett, Mr. William R. May of Ulster, PA and Mr. Meredeth May, Colorado Springs, CO; 12 dear great-grandchildren: Christopher and Trudelyn Lanterman, Nathan and Mary Geiger, all of Nebraska, Iris, William and Phuylis May of Ulster, Cory Todd, Brian and Christine May of Colorado, Timothy and Jamie Geiger of Bentley Creek. A funeral service will be held at the Bentley Creek Weslyan Church Friday at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends in the church vestibule from 10-11 a.m. Her pastor, Rev. Kelvin Jones will officiate. In lieu of flowers please give to your favorite charity in her memory. She will be laid to rest in the Corey family plot, Glenwood Cemetery, Troy, where many preceding loved ones rest awaiting the resurrection. Funeral arrangements are by Roberts Funeral Home, Wellsburg, NY (Towanda Daily Review).
