GEORGE ERETY, ESQ., a well-known Philadelphian, departed this life on Saturday morning, in the sixty-second year of his age. Mr. Erety has been for many years a leading citizen of that portion of the city formerly known as the Northern Liberties. Early in life he studied law, and was admitted to practive at the bar, and subsequently he was elected alderman, which position he held for a long time. For the past three years Mr. Erety has been President of the Board of Guardians of the Poor, a post which he has filled most acceptably to the people. His somewhat sudden death, caused by a stroke of paralysis, is regretted by a wide circle of friends.

THE FUNERAL OF GEORGE ERETY, yesterday afternoon, was attended by the masonic Lodge of which the deceased was a member, the Guardians of the Poor, and the members of the Franklin Institute and the Jefferson Fire Insurance Company, with all of which he was connected. The religious services were conducted by Rev. J. Howard Snydam of the Dutch Reformed Church, and Rev. J. Dickerson, of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
THE INTERMENT.- The remains of George Erety, Esq., President of the Board of Guardians of the Poor, were interred yesterday, in Laurel Hill Cemetery. The religious services were conducted by Rev. J. Howard Snydam of the Dutch Reformed Church, and Rev. J. Dickerson, Methodist. The Masonic fraternity, of which Mr. Erety was a member, cast their evergreen upon the coffin lid before the clods fell upon it. The funeral procession seemed almost interminable. Everybody who knew him had a kind word for Mr. Erety. The entire Board of Guardians of the Poor were present.
