MARRIAGE:
“Pocahontas Democrat” Pocahontas, Iowa June 8, 1922 page 1.
“Shimon-Verner”

“Albert J. Shimon and Ruth Frances Verner were united in marriage at the Sacred Heart church Tuesday morning of this week. Rev. Father Wagener officiating at a Nuptial High Mass. A goodly number of friends gathered to witness the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Verner of South Dakota, and has been a resident of Pocahontas for several years, making her home with Mrs. W. A. Terry who is her sister, and who resides in the east part of town. She has served as one of the C. H. Schissel’s competent and obliging clerks for the last year, in which position she has proved herself trustworthy and where she made many friends with the patrons of this establishment.
The groom is a son of Mrs. Edmund Gehrig of this city, and it is in this community that he was born and received his early education in the Sacred Heart school of this place
where he graduated with honors. He later took a course in a school of pharmacy at Des Moines and later passed the State Board as a registered pharmacist. He is at the present time a member of the Shimon Drug Company of this city. He is a young man of which any community might well feel proud, full of life and ambition, and honorable and upright in all his dealings.
Frances Shimon acted as bridesmaid and Vincent Murray attended the groom.
The bride looked charming in a gown of white satin with a wreath and veil, and carried a bouquet of roses and lilies of the valley.
The bridesmaid was attired in pink satin and wore a large black picture hat and carried a bouquet of sweet peas.
After the ceremony a wedding breakfast in three courses was served at the home of the groom’s mother, at which only the immediate relatives were present.
The color scheme of white and pink was carried out in the table and house decorations.
Mrs. Vernon, mother of the bride from South Dakota...
During the forenoon the newly married couple left by auto for an extended honeymoon and on their return home will live in an apartment at the Beers residence in the west part of town.
The Democrat joins with all the many friends in wishing the happy couple a long life of happiness.”
