Rites Held For Wilbur J. Alig

Wilbur J. Alig, 67, long time resident of the Rolfe area, died Saturday morning following a sudden illness.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at St. Margaret's Catholic Church with Msgr. Zeno Reising officiating at the Mass of the Resurrection. Joe Reigelsberger was lector, Micki Reigelsberger and John Behrendsen were Mass servers and Gary Shimon was Cross bearer. Mrs. Dale Wagner was organist.

Honorary pallbearers were Gene McCartan, Francis McCartan, Lowell Shimon, Albert Sefcik, Lester Bunda, and James D. Bartosh.

Casket bearers were Roy Schonberger, Harry Votlucka, Joe Vainreb, Eugene Collins, Orie Heid and George Milefchik. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Pocahontas.

Wilbur J. Alig, son of George and Louisa Rudolph Alig, was born November 26, 1907 at Metamora, Ill., and passed away November 30, 1974.

In 1909 he came with his family to Pomeroy. They moved to Pocahontas area in 1917 and he attended the Pocahontas Catholic School and later Ware High School.

He married Bertha Ernst in 1931 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pocahontas. They farmed in the Pocahontas area until 1940 when they moved to the Rolfe area.

Mr. Alig was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and of St. Margaret's parish, Rolfe. He served as corn sealer and township committeeman for many years.

Surviving are a son, Norbert; daughter, Mrs. Russell (Jeanette) Winkleblack, Rolfe; five grandchildren; brothers, Clem and Edward, Pocahontas; George, Fonda; Morris, Palmer; sisters, Mrs. Francis Slattery, Laurens; Mrs. Donald Francis, Palmer; Mrs. Edward Albright, Clare; Mrs. Al Vodraska, Pocahontas; and Mrs. Harold Porath, Watertown, S. Dak. His wife, Bertha preceded him in death in 1965.
