Last Tuesday, Mrs. T.G. Davis, of Herman, suffered a stroke of paralysis. She is seventy years old and but little hope is entertained for her recovery.

DIED - - The sudden and unexpected death of Mrs. T.G. Davis, which occurred at 5:20 Wednesday afternoon, shocked and saddened this community where she has lived for 36 years. She endeared herself to young and old by her sunny disposition and Christian life. No one had fewer enemies than she, neither could any one ask a greater measure of human affection than the noble Christian woman whom a sorrowing people tenderly laid to rest in the Herman cemetery Friday afternoon.
Deceased, whose maiden name was Annie Leroy, was born in France May 9, 1829, and came to America with her parents in 1833, and located in Ohio. At the age of twelve years she joined the United Brethren church and lived a consistent Christian to the hour of her death.
In the year 1843 she was married to T.G. Davis, and in the fall of 1862 she accompanied her husband and children to Nebraska where they located on a homestead a few miles from Herman. Deceased was the mother of fourteen children, twelve of whom are living. All of the children and many grandchildren were present at the funeral.
Last Tuesday evening she suffered a stroke of apoplexy from which she never rallied enough to recognize her kindred who hastened to her bedside from their distant homes. She peacefully slept to awaken in eternity. The aged husband, children and kindred have the deepest sympathy in their hour of bereavement; but they can gather consolation the thought that in her death another Christian wife and mother has gone to heaven. Rev. McFarland preached the funeral sermon. A large concourse of friends of the deceased followed the remains to the cemetery. The death of good old Grandmother Davis is deeply felt in Herman. --- Herman Review
