Excerpts from one of several obituaries written for Henrietta Fisher:
"Henrietta Fisher was born on May 10, 1842, on a farm in Morgan township, Porter county, Indiana. She was the daughter of Elder Lewis and Catherine Comer, who were among the early pioneers of this county….All of her life has been lived in the near vicinity of her birth.
"Her father was one of the earliest Christian preachers of this section, a man known by multitudes of people and universally respected and honored by all who knew him. "Father Comer," as he was affectionately called, was a preacher of great power and by his industry, unswerving faith, and great ability, laid the foundations for the future strength and influence of the Christian church in northern Indiana.
"Mrs. Fisher…was married to Jacob Fisher on Christmas day, 1866, soon after Mr. Fisher returned from the army. To this union, which was a union of hearts as well as hands, was born eight children….Mrs. Fisher's life has been one of quiet devotion to her family and friends, and of good deeds done without ostentation or display."
