Amelia Y. (Shavack) DeBonaventura
Age 91 of Wilmington, passed away following a short illness on October 13, 2012.
Amelia was born in Wilmington on April 5, 1921, daughter of the late Neal and Angeline (Frati) Shavack. She was a graduate of Wilmington General School of Nursing. In 1946, she and her husband founded John's Body Shop, Inc. in Wilmington, where she proudly worked every day until July of 2012.
Amelia was predeceased by her husband, John; brother, Maurice; and sister, Marion. She is survived by her children, Priscilla Moses and her husband Bill, Guy and his wife Pat, and Neal John and his wife Alice; grandchildren, Gina, Guy, Michelle, Angela, Vickie, Tammie, Tracey, Rebecca, and Amanda; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Neal Shavack and his wife MaryAnne; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held at the CHARLES P. ARCARO FUNERAL HOME, 2309 Lancaster Ave. in Wilmington, on Wednesday evening, October 17 from 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 4th and Bancroft in Wilmington, on Thursday morning, October 18 at 11am. Entombment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.
