Bill Ezinicki

Professional Hockey Player. For nine seasons (1944 to 1952 and 1954 to 1955), he played at the right-wing position in the National Hockey League with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins and New York Rangers. After attending a Canadian hockey school which was run by legendary player Eddie Shore, he went onto etch a remarkable period with the Oshawa Generals of the Junior Hockey League. He broke into the NHL with Toronto during the 1944-1945 season and during his years with the Maple Leafs (1944 to 1950), he produced four consecutive double-digit goals-scored seasons (1947 to 1950), in addition to contributing to three consecutive Stanley Cup championships (1947 to 1949). Throughout the course of his career, Ezinicki be came widely known for his punishing body-checking for which earned him the nickname "Wild Bill". In 368 regular season games, he totaled 79 goals with 105 assists and earned NHL All-Star status twice (1947 and 1948). After retiring from hockey, Ezinicki began a successful career as a professional golfer and won numerous tournaments in the New England-area. (bio by: C.S.)
