Roberta June (Smith) Slack

Roberta June (Smith) Slack, 80, went to meet the Lord at her home at 8:58 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, where she had been lovingly cared for by her husband and children.
She was born in Freeport, KS and was the daughter of Rev. Ralph and Ruth (Tromble) Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Herbert Slack of 61 years, eight children, Renita and Gordon Puckett, Steven and Sheryl Slack, Verna Lynn and Keith Spaulding, Patricia and Glenn Waltman, Cheryl LaBarge, all of Kokomo, IN, Philip and Sherri Slack of St. Joseph, MI, Brian and Jennifer Slack of Lebanon, IL, and Deanna and Doug Ennis of Summerville, SC. She has 20 grandchildren, and 40 great-grandchildren with two more on the way. Also surviving are two brothers, Dr. Ray (Betty) Smith of Sheridan, WY and Rev. Robert (Julia) Smith of Brooksville, FL and three sisters, Reva (Jim) Green of Zephyr Hills, FL, Rosaline (Jack) Blinn of Walton, IN and Raydene (Ronnie) Green of Summerville, IN.
She treasured her role as mother and wife in the home, and loved to sew, garden and put up canned goods. She also served as secretary for Globe Valve, and worked as cook for the Howard County Friendship home and at Western High School cafeteria. She served one year as Howard County extension president, and several years as the Monroe Township president.
She and her husband pastored at Windfall, Forest, and Miami, IN for 20 years in the Pilgrim Holiness and Wesleyan Churches. She was also a member of the First Church of the Nazarene where she taught the Women's Bible Study. She loved reading and memorizing God's word and dedicated her life to being a servant for God.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Church of the Nazarene, 2734 South Washington Street, Kokomo, with Dr. Rev. David Leeder, Dr. Rev. Larry Freels of Macon, GA and Rev. Glenn Waltman of Kokomo, IN., officiating.
Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
