Mary F. Shockey
Mary F. Shockey, 61, a resident of Dailey, went to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, Jan. 10, 2006, at her residence. She had been in her usual health and death was sudden and unexpected.
Born April 4, 1944, at Elkins, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Marietta Bennett Shiflett.
On. Jan. 13, 1962, she was united in marriage to James I. "Jim" Shockey, who survives in Dailey. They would have celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary Friday.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Teresa Ann "Terry" Godfrey and husband, Patrick, of Franklin; two sons, Edward Ray "Eddie" Shockey and friend, Joann, of Shiloh, N.C., and James Shockey Jr. of Elkins; two sisters, Ethel Mele and husband, Albert, of Woodstock, Va., and Judy Ferguson of Woodbridge, Va.; and three brothers, Steve Shiflett and wife, Lee, and Ed Shiflett, all of Elkins, and Tim Shiflett and friend, Gina, of Bowie, Md. Also surviving are five grandsons, James Allen "TJ," Bradley, Logan, Joshua and Nathan; one granddaughter, Jennifer; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Andy Shiflett; and a host of friends.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was one brother, David Shiflett.
Mary was a CNA receiving her certification in the early 1980s. She was formerly employed at Nella's on Central Street and then at Nella's at Crystal Springs. At the time of her death, she was employed at Elkins Regional Convalescent Center. Mary loved gardening in her numerous flower beds and reading romance novels. She enjoyed her job and loved taking care of her residents. Mary also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandson and her special nephew, Andy. Mary was a Methodist by faith. Mary will be sadly missed and will remain in the hearts of those who loved her forever.
Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel today after 5 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel Friday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m. Pastor Jim Tallman, minister of Light of Christ Chapel in Belington, will officiate.
