He entered the Navy in 1939 and served through WWII, the Korean War, and Vietnam, rising from an Enlisted Seaman to the rank of Captain. He received military campaign medals and ribbons, ending his Naval career with the Legion of Merit medal for exceptional meritorious service.
He was a gentleman farmer in retirement who loved his vegetable and fruit garden. Every year he gave bushels of oranges to the Veterans organizations as well as to family and neighbors.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Nancy Brown Clark, and children Nancy Lee Bill, Doug, and Mina, and 11 grandchildren.
