Mrs. Arthur was born in Union, SC, September 25, 1927, a daughter of the late William J. Crocker and Annie (Shirley) Crocker.
A 1945 graduate of Union High School, she worked for 22 years with Sears and Roebuck Company in Union. After 25 years, Mrs. Arthur retired from the Jeter Agency as a real estate agent.
Mrs. Arthur was a lifelong member of Mon-Aetna Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir and a former Sunday School Teacher. In 1977, she served on the building committee charged with overseeing construction of the present sanctuary. She was a member of the Union Civitan Club.
Surviving are a son, William Earl Sprouse of the home; a brother, Rev. Dr. James W. Crocker, Sr. and wife Jerre S. Crocker of Boiling Springs; two nephews, James W. Crocker, Jr. and wife Nancy of Inman and Harold G. Crocker, Jr. and wife Diane of New York; a niece, Jan C. Stiles of Greer and her Arthur nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Arthur was predeceased by two brothers, Harold G. Crocker, Sr. and Rev. Bobby G. Crocker.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Mon-Aetna Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. James W. Crocker, Rev. Benny Green and Rev. Greg Barefoot. Burial followed at Union Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends 2:00-2:45 PM Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Mon-Aetna Baptist Church prior to the service.
Active Pallbearers were Greg Walker, Mack McNeace, Jeff McNeace, Clint Goodson, Jim Crocker and Harold Crocker. The following were asked to sit in a group: The Connie Springs Class, The Tom Alexander Class and 1945 class of Union High School.
Memorials could be made to the Mon-Aetna Baptist Church Building Fund, 1431 Lockhart Hwy., Union, SC 29379.
