The death of Albert Mayer occurred at his farm home southwest of Jordan last Thursday morning. Deceased had been ailing during the past two months and had been ill abed for five days with gastroenteritis. Mr. Mayer was a man well known, as he was born in Scott County and spent all his life of 61 years in this county. We was of kindly and friendly disposition and his surviving family have the sympathy of all in their loss.
Deceased was born in Belle Plaine twp. on the 10th of July, 1856. His marriage to Miss Mary Haas occurred on the 25th of Nov. 1884 and their home has been on the Mayer farm since. Mrs. Mayer lives to mourn her husband's departure as do five sons, two daughters, five grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters. The sons are Thos. and Raymond Mayer of the old home, Arthur of LeSueur Center and Alfred and Wm. of Northfield. The daughters are Mrs. J.P. Krautkremer of St. Paul and Mrs. C.C. Heible of Northfield, Leonard Mayer of Shakopee, Christ Mayer of New Prague and Jos. Mayer of Jordan are brothers, and Mrs. Frank Wolf and Mrs. Peter Hilgers of Jordan and Mrs. L Maseline of Minneapolis are sisters of deceased.
All the members of Mr. Mayer's family were home to attend his funeral, which was held at St. John's church in Jordan Saturday forenoon at ten o'clock. It was in charge of the Benevolent Society of which he was a member. Interment was in St. John's cemetery. Father Benignus officated at both the church service and the rites in the cemetery.
