She was a 1930 Graduate of Slatington High School and a 1932 Graduate of Kutztown Normal School. In 1932, she was employed as a school teacher for grades 1 through 8, at various one room schools including New Tripoli; later in Jacksonville; then the Weavers School in New Tripoli and later in Kistler Valley, PA. From 1951 to retiring in 1970 she was a teacher for the newly opened Northwestern Elementary School in New Tripoli, PA.
She was a member of the U.C.C. Congregation of New Bethel Union Church, Kempton, PA. where she served as a former choir member for 35 years. She was a member of the Kempton, Fire Co. Survivors: Survivors include several nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by five sisters, Mary Hemerly, Florence Bond, Olive Kistler, Irene Krick and Lenore Bond; and three brothers, Howard, Nevin and Paul Fister.
Services: Funeral Service Friday, August 20, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the New Bethel Union Church, 135 New Bethel Church Rd., Kempton, Pa. 18066. Rev. David W. Blitch will officiate. A Calling Hour will preceed the service beginning at 10 a.m. Interment in adjoining cemetery. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, contributions to New Bethel U.C.C. Memorial fund, send in care of the church address. Arrangements by the Nester Funeral Home, New Tripoli, PA.
