Mr. Jeaf Anderson, a resident of Buena Vista County nearly all of his life, passed away at the Alta Memorial Hospital on July 12, 1965, at 9:00 p.m. He was 90 years, 6 months, and 12 days old at the time of his death.
Jeaf Anderson was born at Kankakee, Ill., on Dec. 31, 1874. He moved to Alta, Iowa, with his parents when he was eleven years old in the year 1885. He was the son of Johannes and Annie Anderson.
His marriage to Mattie Pederson took place on March 2, 1898. This union was blessed with four children.
Jeaf and his wife settled on a farm in Elk township. They farmed in Elk and Scott townships for 28 years. They moved to the town of Alta in the year of 1921. Jeaf, who always liked animals and livestock, went into the business of livestock buying after they moved to Alta. This continued to be his interest throughout all of his life.
Mr. Anderson was baptized and became a member of the Elk Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Anderson are 1 son, Wayne of Alta; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives; and a great host of friends. Preceeding Jeaf in death were: his parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, his wife Mattie (May 1934), 3 sons: Johannes (Oct. 1934), Leonard (Sept. 1963), and Glen who passed away in infancy.
His mortal body was laid to rest in the family lot in the Elk Cemetery. May God bless his loved ones who mourn his departure.
