Birth: Mar. 9, 1873
Rankin
Vermilion County
Illinois, USA
Death: Oct. 17, 1931
Alma
Gratiot County
Michigan, USA

Mrs. Lida Custer Worden, a resident of Woodworth Ave. in this city (Alma, MI), died at her home Sat., Oct. 17, 1931, and the end came uncomplainingly after months of severe illness from which no recovery could be hoped. Mrs. Worden was born March 9, 1873, at Rankin, IL, where she lived until she was married to Albert H. Worden, July 19, 1887. Shortly after they were married, they moved to this city where they resided until their deaths. There was born to Mr. & Mrs. Worden three daughters, Mrs. Bert (Ella) Hammond, Mrs. Anna Baker, and Miss Etta Worden of this city; and, two sons, Ollie Worden of Lansing, and Albert Worden who died here several years ago. Mrs. Worden's parents were Casper and Caroline (Wurtz) Custer of Rankin, IL.
Mrs. Worden was an industrious, honorable, painstaking, and affectionate wife and mother. Her husband Albert died when the children were all of tender years; the mother cared for the family and made a home for them, principally through her industry and frugality. Those of her neighbors and friends, who live in the neighborhood of State St. and Woodworth Ave., all testify to the high character, integrity, and honor of Mrs. Worden as a wife and mother. There was no duty within her power that she was called upon to perform which she did not willingly and cheerfully discharge to her best ability. Her constant aim and effort in life was to do for those towards whom responsibility and duty existed. To but few of us may it be said, that equal praise and credit is due. A large number of her friends and neighbors who knew of her life during forty years in this city gathered at her home on Woodworth Ave. Monday afternoon to pay her their last respects and honor her worthiness as a mother and neighbor. She was buried in Riverside Cemetery beside those who preceded her in death.

Public Illinois Marriages records have marriage date of July 18, 1888, for Albert H. Worden and Lula Custer (?her name possibly miscopied).
