FRANK KARL ACKARD passed away Monday, August 8, 2011 in Winchester Terrace Nursing Home. He was 87.

Born February 3, 1924 in Widen, West Virginia to William and Helen (Pulikowski) Ackard, Frank was graduated from Cecil High School in 1942 and earned a bachelor's degree from Robert Morris College in 1950.

A proud veteran he served three years in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Frank was an auditor for General Motors and was a former member of the Mansfield Lion's Club. An outspoken wordsmith, Frank was a stickler for proper speech, and was not shy about correcting others' vocabulary and grammar.

He is survived by a brother William Ackard of Hickory, North Carolina and his companion of many years Betty Gatton of Mansfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Bernice "Bee" Ackard on March 13, 1994.

Friends may call Thursday, August 11, 2011 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. Pastor Dave Root will officiate and burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park.
