Mrs. Ruby Jeanette Forbus Heard, 80, of Franklin, Ga., died at her home Tuesday, November 21, 2000 after many years of ill health.
Mrs. Heard was born August 31, 1920 in Hogansville, Ga., to the late James Manley Forbus and Margaret Jeanette McClain Forbus. She was also preceded in death by her husband John L. Heard. Mrs. Heard served the children of Heard County first as a teacher at the Franklin Elementary School, and after several years of teaching felt she could be more useful as a case worker with the Heard County Department of Family and Children Services. Her devotion to the children of Heard County will long be remembered by those she served.
In addition to her work, Mrs. Heard was an active member of the Franklin United Methodist Church and a beloved wife and mother.
A funeral was Friday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. at Franklin United Methodist Church with the Reverends Marion Shivers, Rick McMahan and Terry Harper officiating. Music was provided by Nancy Heard and Megan Heard, granddaughter of Mrs. Heard. Pallbearers were Talmadge Davis, Don Heard, Raymond Heard, Lance Taylor, Bob Kroch, Joel Phillips, Jerry Ridley and Mason Alford. Burial was in Franklin City Cemetery.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Kay Heard of Lincolnton, Ga. and Hank and Patrice Heard of Cumming, Ga.; brother, James Forbus of Royston, Ga.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a host of adoring friends.
