Wilbur F. Richards
Wilbur F. Richards, 94, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012.

Born Oct. 2, 1918, in Southern Indiana, he graduated with honors from Central Normal College in Danville, earned advanced degrees from Indiana and Butler universities, was principal at Mooresville High School and a math teacher and guidance counselor at North Central before retiring in 1982 after 43 years of service. He also coached basketball in Southern Indiana. He was a member of several organizations, including the Lions Club, the Shriners, was a 33rd-degree Mason and was a member of Union Chapel Methodist Church. He also served as a captain in the Army for four years in Europe during World War II.

He had seven siblings: Floyd, Harold, Edsel, Brooks, Dallas, Estel and Barbara Huffman.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, the former Doris LaDuke. They had two sons, Dave and Bruce, and a grandson.

Visitation: Sunday, Oct. 7, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel, in Indianapolis.

Funeral: Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Union Chapel Methodist Church with burial in Rosehill Cemetery in Elizabeth.

The family suggests memorial gifts to the Scholarship Fund of Union Chapel Methodist Church, 2720 E. 86th St., Indianapolis, IN 46240.
