A letter from William C. Spencer of Cherry Valley to his brother, City Attorney Spencer, announces that he is recovering nicely from the injuries recently sustained by falling on a pitchfork.

William C. Spencer passed away at the old homestead Friday August 14th after a short illness of pneumonia following the death of his wife by eight days.
Mr. Spencer has always lived at the old homestead where he was born on August 24, 1853, the youngest son of Melhitable P. Glazier and William D. Spencer. He was united in marriage to Hellen "Nellie" M. Johnson in 1886.
Mr. Spencer was a quiet unassuming man and was respected by all who knew him and was a member of the M. E. church.
He is survived by four sons, Edgar and Carl of Cherry Valley, Milton of Schenectady, Herbert of Herkimer and Mrs. Theresa Gregory of Cherry Valley. One brother, Douglas of Los Angeles, Calif., and two sisters Martha Ward of Lowville and Mrs. Jane Kelly of Albany, several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held from the home Sunday August 16th at two o'clock with the Rev. Kenneth L. Combs officiating. Interment in the Roseboom cemetery.
