Barbara Ellen Buffington was born at Gnadenhutten, Tuscarawas county, Ohio, August 14, 1840.
She had five sons and two daughters, all of whom survive.
Mrs. Parrish was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Buffington. Her mother's maiden name was Johnson. Both traced their ancestry back to colonial days, an ancestor of Mr. and Mrs. Buffington having been one of the early settlers at Jamestown, Va.
