Shad Benjamin Durham, age 24, of Lubbock, Texas and formerly of Clovis, New Mexico, died Sunday, October 7, 2012, in Lubbock, Texas.
Shad was born on March 26, 1988, in Amarillo, Texas to Benjamin E. Durham and his mother, Michelle Bonds Durham, formerly of Bovina, Texas. Shad moved to Clovis with his family in 1993 and graduated from Clovis High School in 2007. Shad played basketball for the Wildcats. Upon graduation, Shad attended Eastern New Mexico University before transferring to South Plains College in Levelland, Texas. Shad was employed at The Lone Star Grill, Buffalo Springs Lake, Texas and was involved in the Texas Country Music scene in and around Lubbock. Shad's interests lay with music and all sports, especially the Texas Longhorns. Shad was a member of Central Baptist Church, Clovis, New Mexico.
He is survived by his father, Ben Durham and wife, Jerri of Lubbock, Texas; his mother, Michelle 'Shelly' Bonds Durham of Clovis, New Mexico; his grandparents, Tom and Reba Bonds of Clovis, New Mexico; his brother, Travis Durham and wife, Elizabeth of Dallas, Texas; his sister, Tawney Durham of Clovis, New Mexico and his step-brothers, Seth Moore and Chase Moore, both of Lubbock, Texas.
Shad was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clifford and Mona Durham of Amarillo, Texas and great-grandparents, Roy Patton and Lorene Patton Carlyle both of Clovis, New Mexico.
Funeral services are at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012, at Central Baptist Church in Clovis, New Mexico with Derek Osburn, Pastor of The Vine Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis, New Mexico.
