William Barksdale
Birth: Aug. 21, 1821
Death: Jul. 3, 1863

Civil War Confederate Brigadier General, US Congressman. He led a distinguished career in Mississippi and as a Confederate commander. He was mortally wounded on the second day at Gettysburg, July 2, 1863, during the attack of Longstreet's Corps on the Peach Orchard and Wheat Field.
