NORTH TRACT MATRON DIES AT PARK CITY

Mrs. Matilda Adamson Shields, the wife of James G. Shields, of Delta, died Monday noon at the hospital in Park City, of a kidney ailment. Mrs. Shields was seventy-two years of age. Mrs. Shields had been in poor health for a short time and she and Mr. Shields left Delta Friday with their son Curtis to drive to Park City where they would visit their daughter, Mrs. Boyle and also consult specialists in Salt Lake City. On Saturday Mrs. Shields was in a serious condition and was taken to the hospital where she remained until her death.

Mrs. Shields was born in Lincoln, Tooele County, on September 4, 1868, a daughter of David G. and Sarah Jane Adamson. She spent her early years there and had lived on the North Tract for the past thirty years, coming here with Mr. Shields when this tract was first opening up.

Mrs. Shields was an active member of the LDS Ward at Sugarville and had served many years in the Relief Society and also in the Sunday School and MIA. She was a valued member of the community and her friends here who enjoyed years of association with her, extend their deep sympathy to the family.

She is survived by her husband, James G. Shields of Delta, one daughter, Mrs. James Boyle of Park City, and four sons, Curtis, Rodney and LaVar Shields of Delta and Rom Sheilds of Idaho Falls; also a sister Mrs. A. J. Shields of Lincoln and four brothers, R.K. Adamson of Tooele, Alex and David Adamson of Fairfield, Montana and J.F. Adamson of Linwood. She is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in Sugarville on Thursday morning under the direction of Bishop George Jensen, and interment will be in the Tooele cemetery.
