Thomas M. Walker was a native of Illinois but for the last sixty years of his life he lived in Dunklin County, Missouri. He had been united in marriage four times. His first alliance was with Miss Caroline Gage of Pope County, Illinois. His second with Miss Cora Waters of Caruth. His third with Miss Elva Smith of Malden, and his fourth with Miss Emma Vaughn of Kennett.

His wife Sarah Emma Vaughn Walker survived him with the following children born of the four unions: John Walker and William Walker of Crockett, Texas; James Oscar Walker of Malden; Thomas Alvin "Tommy" Walker of Gideon; Mrs. Lena Pippins of Parma; Arthur Walker of Flint, Michigan; Mrs. Pansy Kitchens, Belar Walker and Raymond Walker of Bernie.

Thomas M. Walker was variously referred to as Thomas Matthew Walker (per his death certificate), Thomas Milton Walker and Thomas Madison Walker. In his son Raymond's obituary he was even named as Thomas Edison! He was the son of W. N. Walker and Louisa Ford.

On May 13, 1869 he married Nancy Caroline Gage. Their children were John D. Walker, William Jefferson Walker, James Oscar Walker, Thomas Alvin Walker and Maggie Aughtaway Walker. Nancy Caroline died in 1884.

On November 24, 1885, Thomas married Cora Waters Pope County, Illinois. Their children were Arthur David Walker and Lena Mae Walker.

In January 1892, Thomas married Elva Smith. She died in December of that year. They had no children.

On July 20, 1893, he married Sara Emmaline Barr Vaughn in Cotton Hill, Dunklin County, Missouri. Their children were Esker Walker, Belar S. Walker, Raymond Jesse Walker, Altha Walker and Pansy P. Walker.
