John Calvin is the son of Joseph Johnson Montgomery and Matilda nee HOWARD Montgomery.

John Calvin married Emily Emiline nee WILLIAMS in 1854 in Bexar Co., TX (now San Saba Co.,TX). to this union were born these known children: James W., Anneta and Emily. Emily Emiline died January 23, 1857 at Cherokee, San Saba, TX and is buried in the Cherokee Cemetery aka Old Hanna Cemetery.

Second, John C. married Emma Harriet nee MENEFEE in 1861 at Cherokee, San Saba Co., TX. To this union was born this son: Joseph Young Montgomery.

Third, John C. married Emma Pauline neeRUSSELL in September, 1875 at Cherokee, San Saba Co., TX. To this union were born these known children: Edward L., Fanny, Maude Elizabeth and John Calvin Montgomery, Jr.

"Morgan County, Kentucky, was established in 1822 from Floyd and Bath Counties. Prior to and after the Civil War, four counties were created from it. It was named for General Daniel Morgan, a hero in the Revolutionary War. Wells Mill was the first settlement in the county and was named for Edmund Wells who began operating a water mill on the Licking River in 1816. In 1823, the county seat of West Liberty was established."
