James Anderson of Sulphur Creek is frequently confused with James C Anderson of Ill Will Creek area and many of his descendants are wrongly attritubed to James C and Johnnie Freelove [Cozzart] Anderson. This error has been shown my Joyce Stover, noted genealogist of Cumberland and by independent analysis by myself.

James Anderson served in the war of 1812 from Nov 20, 1814 to Nov 20, 1815 in Captain Wilburn's company of the Kentucky Milita. He participated with the unit in the Battle of New Orleans under General Jackson. Pension papers shows widow as Mary Ann Thrasher and a Land Grant Bounty was made to James.

James Anderson was granted 106 acres on Sulphur Creek, Cumberland, Ky in 1848. James Anderson had three wives, the identify of first still unknown. The second wife was Nancy Neighbors, the third wife was Mary Ann Thrasher shown living next door in the 1850 Cumberland Census as M A Thrasher (female). James had a large number of children by this three wives which included:

The following provided by Joyce Stover (based on names in the James Land document) and her analysis:
