Barbara Stella Chavis Ard, 75, of Gaston, SC passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 15, 2016. She was born in Columbia, SC to the late William Edison and Mary Sue Kyzer Chavis.
Our mother was a very loving and compassionate woman even to the very end. She always put her family’s needs before her very own. She will be greatly missed by many. She enjoyed the outdoors, her flowers and her dogs; and she had a zest for life.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Dwayne (Lynia) of West Columbia, Joey (Jena) of Gaston, Robby (Lura) of West Columbia and Brian (Julie) of Spartanburg; and daughter, Debra (Kenny) Sharpe of Gaston. She also leaves behind her 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her loving brothers, Elvin, Buster and Ronnie.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Thomas Clarence.
The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington on Monday, January 18, 2016 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM. Funeral services will be at 2:00PM on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Rev. Charles Wilson will officiate. Interment will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens.
