August F. Loeffelbein, 90, early settler of Palmer community, died Friday evening June 29, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. A. Kruse, 818 W. Louise St. Grand Island, following an illness of the past year.
Born in Germany November 4, 18?? [illegible] he came to America with his parents at 16 years of age and eight years later, 1878, they settled on a farm six miles southeast of Palmer. He retired from the farm in 1919 and moved to Grand Island.
He was married December 1, 1882 to Helen Gefeke. Five children were born: Albert J. and Mrs. Wm. Kruse of Grand Island; Ewald E. of Huron, S. D.; Mrs. Martha Hartman and Mrs. Hulda Ernest of Kansas City, Mo. They and his wife survive.
Funeral service were held Monday and burial was made in the Grand Island cemetery.
