Larry Richard Bolton, 61, of Iowa City, formerly of Fontanelle and Mount Ayr, died Dec. 18, 2006, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City from lymphoma.
Services will be 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 22, at the First United Methodist Church in North Liberty. The Rev. Alecia Williams will officiate the service. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery at Iowa City. Visitation will be 3:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, 2720 Muscatine Ave., Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Larry's memory. Larry Bolton, son of William R. "Dick" and Norma I. (Smith) Bolton, was born March 11, 1945, in Fontanelle. He graduated from Mount Ayr High School and attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo. On Dec. 3, 1979, Larry married Cathy Marie Schultz in Iowa City. For 34 years, Larry worked in management for Lear Corporation (formerly Sheller Globe and United Technologies) in Iowa City.
Larry raised quarter horses for years. He was involved with the Iowa State Quarter Horse Racing Association, serving as president and inducted into their Hall of Fame.
Surviviors include his wife, Cathy Bolton of Iowa City; three children, Romy Bolton (partner Julie Moffitt) and their children Nick, Allie and Allison, and Lance (wife Kate) Bolton and their children Jill, Lindsey and Avery, all of Iowa City, and Angi (husband Brian) Bevans and their children, Brianne, Alex, Andrew and Kaylin, all of Tiffin; and sister Kathi (husband Ed) Christensen of Greenfield.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and brother James D. Bolton.
