Obituary for Abraham Metzger from the Circleville Herald of Monday, January 28, 1924:

"ABRAHAM METZGER. Died at Home of His Daughter---Funeral Services Wednesday Afternoon. Abraham Metzger, a retired farmer, died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Dresbach, on East Main Street this morning at 2:30 o'clock. He had been ill four weeks. A little over a month ago, Mr. Metzger had recovered from case of flue but got out too early and suffered a relapse and this with other complications resulted in his death. The deceased was born in this county June 4, 1845, and was a son of Benjamin and Mary Seimer Metzger. He was twice married. His first wife was Miss Mary E. Shaff, to whom he was married in 1869. His second wife was Miss Mary Valentine. Mr. Metzger was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Three sons and three daughters survive. They are George W. Metzger, Amy E., wife of Harvey Dresbach; Lawrence D. Metzger, of Circleville Township; Edward H. Metzger, of Columbus; Elizabeth, wife of O. P. Kraft of Sycamore, Ohio, and Jennie Alice, wife of John A. Ucker, of Walnut Township. He also leaves two grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Kraft and Harold Metzger Dresbach. Of his immediate family, there are living a brother, Samuel Metzger, of Jackson Township, and a sister, Mrs. Kate Shaner of Kansas. The funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dresbach. Rev. G. J. Troutman will officiate. Interment in Forest Cemetery."
