Pvt. Co C 1st Inf 5th Army/SAW.
is buried in one of the "unknown" graves.
Originally buried in the mausoleum, was reburied in an unmarked grave. For reasons, that are not completely clear. He is probably buried in one of the graves marked "unknown" on the map.
The mausoleum was dismantled in 1997. People who were buried there were reburied in Union Cemetery in unmarked graves or in some cases, their families had the remains moved and buried elsewhere.
Marsh Funeral Home was in charge of the reburials.
A map and information can be obtained from the City of Waukegan.
(On Labor Day weekend 2012, I stopped by to record the tombstones of my 2nd Great grandparents and was shocked that in such a small cemetery, I could not find them. Thru some research, I discovered this story. I have been working hard researching the people buried in the mausoleum and to add them to findagrave.com. Originally, I was armed with only a map and a list of names. I was able to figure out many connections then. On Oct. 6, 2012 I did receive a packet of information from the City of Waukegan about those buried here. I do not care about the politics or what happened. My only goal is to help those looking for their families find them, and bring dignity back to the families.)
