NEWTON FALLS — Olive C. Beckner, 87, passed away at 11:40 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2008, at Longmeadow Care Center in Ravenna.
She was born Feb. 11., 1921 in Blairs-ville, Pa., the loving daughter of Edward O. and Catherine McElwee Beckner, and was a lifetime Newton Falls area resident.
She was employed by the Hanson Drug Co. for 20 years. In her spare time, Olive enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, playing cards and watching the Cleveland Indians.
Cherished memories of Olive will be carried on by her brother, Edward (Dolores) Beckner of Braceville; sister, Shirley Dolan of Ravenna; sister-in-law, Janet Beckner of Newton Falls; and brother-in-law, William Ingraham of Stow; her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Olive was like a second mother to Shirley's daughter, Pamla, and her family, Arthur and Rebecca Putt.
Preceding her in death were her parents and sisters, Roberta Beckner, Betty Rhoads and Lenora Ingraham, and brother George Beckner.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at Borowski Funeral Home, Newton Falls, where the Rev. Rebecca Heller will officiate at funeral services at noon. Burial will follow in the Newton Township Cemetery.
The family requests material tributes be made in the form of contributions to the Senior Citizens Van Fund, Newton Falls Senior Citizens Group, 52 E. Quarry St., Newton Falls 44444.
