Ward F. Tucker, 92, of Clifton and a former resident of Meridian, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, in the Lutheran Sunset Home in Clifton. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct 5, 2012, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian, with Dr. Jerry Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Meridian Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Ward was born in Seagoville, Texas, to the late Charles Clinton and Mayme (Sewell) Tucker. He was raised in Seagoville and graduated from Forest Avenue High School in Dallas. He worked for Postal Telegraph in Dallas for five years, as a delivery person and mail clerk. On Sept 12, 1942, he enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corp and served until 1946, where he worked on aircraft engines and related machinery. After his discharge, he was united in marriage to Marie Clark on April 19, 1946, in Waxahachie, Texas. They lived in the metroplex for many years where he worked as a service station parts manager. After his retirement, the couple moved to Meridian and later moved to a retirement center in Clifton. Ward was a long time member of the Meridian First Baptist Church and after moving to Clifton, he moved his membership to Clifton First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie, on Jan. 9, 2009.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathy Terry and husband, Wayne, of Richardson; sons, David Edward Tucker, of Clifton and Paul Tucker and wife, Kim, of Rockwall; grandchildren, Paula, Keith, Shawn, Marcus and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Logan, Alex, Julie, Trace and Trey; a number of other relatives and many friends.
