Richard J. "Dick" Bergvall, 57, of Havre, died July 26 at a Havre hospital.

Services were held at First Lutheran Church in Havre. Pallbearers were Glen Heilman, Willis Myers, Calvin Simons, Doug Rutherford, Ed Vasecka and Web Thackeray. Honorary pallbearers included Montana Toyota Dealers Association members and all his good friends. Burial was in Highland Cemetery. Military gravesite services were conducted by the United Veterans Council Color Guard and Firing Squad.

Mr. Bergvall was born December 2, 1930, in Havre, to Adolph and Marie Bergvall. He grew up on the family farm south of Havre, attended rural schools south of Havre, graduating from Havre High School in 1948. He also attended Northern Montana College and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1950-1952.

On July 6, 1954 he married Ruth Frandsen of Miles City and the couple lived in Havre since then. He was owner and manager of G&B Toyota of Havre. He took great pride establishing and building up "the shop" and was well known by Havre residents for his fairness and honesty in all his dealings. He was the leader of the Boy Scout Troop 426 for many years and was a vocational instructor at Northern Montana College's automotive school for numerous years. He loved gardening, cross-country skiing, fishing and square dancing. He always found time for his children and grandchildren.

Dick was a member of First Lutheran Church and served for many years as a trustee and deacon on the council. He will be remembered for his love, patience and quiet example of faithfulness.

Survivors include his wife of Havre; one son, Dennis of Boise, Idaho; three daughters, Vicki Bergvall of Troy, New York, Lynn Jurenka of Rudyard, and Jackie May of Joplin; sisters, June Skillman of Livingston, Lois Mason of Seattle, Washington, and Sandi Heilman of Cupertino, California; brothers, DeForest Bergvall of Ashland, Wisconsin, Pat Dahlin of Billings, Jack Dahlin of Havre, and Dave Dahlin of Lewistown; six grandchildren.
