Lucy Eversole was the d/o Jesse Eversole (1849-1911) and Mary Matilda Finley (1754-1890), the first born of 19 children. Lucy was probably named after her father's sister Lucy Eversole Estep (1842-1921).
Both of Lucy's parents were born in Clay Co., Kentucky where they lived their entire lives. Mary was buried in the Bowling Cemetery in Big Creek, Clay Co., KY. Jesse, who died 21 years later, was buried in the Marcum Cemetery in Manchester, Clay Co., KY.
On April 27, 1898 in Claiborne Co., Tennessee Lucy married John Emory Hill. It was John's second marriage. His first wife, Cynthia Robinson, had died in 1892.
John and Lucy were married for 32 years and had three known children. When John died in 1930 he was buried in the Ely Cemetery located in Cumberland Gap, Claiborne Co., Tennessee.
Lucy died about 23 years later, in a Knoxville, Tennessee nursing home in 1954. She had been a resident there only six days. Prior to her admission she had been living with her son Eugene and his family since at least 1940.
Lucy was 83 at the time of her death. Her body was returned home to Cumberland Gap,Claiborne Co., TN to be buried near her husband John in the Ely Cemetery.
