Birth: Dec. 14, 1935, USA
Death: Sep. 20, 2012
Arkansas, USA

Adrain Dewitt Thompson was born Saturday, December 14, 1935 to the late Shelvis Juan Thompson and Dora Christine Vincent (Vinson) Thompson.

We are comforted in knowing that he departed this life to"walk that shiny road" surrounded by those he loved and who loved him.

On Thursday afternoon, September 20, 2012 he was suddenly and forever in the peaceful and joyous presence of our Heavenly Father.

On August 26, 1961 he married Jacqueline McCray of Monticello. To this union five children were born: Adrain Rarnell, Sebrena Arnell, Victoria Jarnell, Kimbra Deonne and Julius Lavon. He later married Mary Hall.

Affectionately and widely known as "Uncle Dude", he was an introspective and quiet man with a gentle yet ignitable spirit. His heart loved and cared about the welfare of others. While he grew up knowing about God and in the reverential fear of the Lord, he accepted and professed his salvation later in life. By God's Grace, death did not catch him off guard and, in the days prior to his departure, he tried to prepare us for his exit. In his last days, his strength and
faith were unflinching as he encouraged us to "keep praying and don't worry".

Uncle Dude was known for his walk, his wit and his way with people. He gave mostly everyone a nickname such as "Bill" (Shirley Griffin), "Zach" (Shelvis Thompson), "Robalee" (Sandra Crowell Burnett), "Deek-A-Leek" (Kimbra Thompson) which was most often only his to use.
Despite his own needs, his compassion and empathy compelled him to extend himself to others.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Adrain Rarnell Thompson; three brothers, NT Thompson, TL Swift and James O.C. Thompson and one sister, Effie Louise "Diddy" Thompson Crowell.

Cherishing his time on earth and comforted by his newly found eternal life are his ex-wife, Jacqueline McCray Thompson (Dallas, TX); two sons, Sherman Ingram of Warren, Arkansas, Julius L. Thompson, Sr. (Christie) of Dallas, TX; four daughters, Kathy L. Woods (Fred) of Pine Bluff, AR; Sebrena A. Thompson Jones (Gerald) of Dallas, TX; Victoria J. Thompson of Houston, TX; and Kimbra D. Thompson of Dallas, TX., 10 grandchildren, one step granddaughter, and eight great-grandchildren. One brother, Shelvis Juan "Dusty" Thompson
(Mary) of Monticello, AR; two sisters, Mable Lee Thompson Rhodes of Monticello, AR, Narvis Thompson Bourdeaux of Milwaukee, WI; a most-devoted niece and caregiver, Shirley Thompson Griffin (Harry) of Monticello, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and "associates" will continue to celebrate his life, his wit and his memory
