Harrisonburg (Virginia) Daily News Record, Friday, May 13, 1927:

IN MEMORIAM
In sad but loving remembrance of
our dear little grandson, John Allen
Moomaw, who departed this life one
year ago today, May 13, 1926:

Today our hearts are heavy;
Our thoughts are all of thee;
How we love and how we miss thee,
None but God in Heaven can see.

You left a memory fair and sweet,
Its fragrance shall never die;
Your life was short, pure and sweet,
When God called you on high.

When all the world is cheerful,
And smiles are on each brow,
Oh, blame us not for weeping;
We have no John Allen now.

House is sad, oh, God how dreary;
Lonesome, lonely, every spot;
Listening for his voice til weary,
Weary, for we hear it not.

When the evening shades are falling
And we are sitting all alone,
To our hearts there comes a longing
If our darling would come home.

Sadly missed by his grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. John F. McNeal; great-
grandmother, Susan Holsinger; and
devoted aunt, Iona McNeal.
