The funeral was at the Hattie Short residence with burial in Elon Bapt. Church Cemetery in Lauderdale County Billy was buried in Block #30, Lot A23. He died at his home in Bogota , in 16th civil dist. of TN at 8 a.m. on 3-28-1946. Funeral was at 2:30 p.m. on 3-29-1946 at home of Hattie Short. The service was officiated by Willie B. Oakley. Dr. Alexander of Ridgely, TN was the certifying physician. Cost of funeral was $100.00. Billy had lived in TN for 40 years and had been born in Alabama. His birthday was 5-30-1946.


*For many years (since ca 1998) it was thought Ella's maiden surname was Clem. Recently discovered information reveals that the family members who gave me her maiden surname confused Ella with someone else (probably Malinda Clem, William David Hasting's grandmother. William David Hasting married Ella Adkins in Lauderdale, Tennessee on 7-31-1887. William David was an employee of the L&N railroad. In the mid 1880's L&N Railroad moved William David Hasting to Lauderdale County, along with several other families from Limestone County. Other Limestone Co., AL families found in Lauderdale County were members of the McClung and Meadows families.
