Alexandra Gerace Kogut, Age 18 years old, of New Hartford, New York went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 29, 2012. She was born January 19, 1994, in New Hartford, daughter of Mark and Becky Gerace Kogut.
Alex was a 2012 graduate of New Hartford High School. Alex was a varsity swimmer, captain of the swim team, a lifeguard, taught at Learn to Swim in New Hartford, and was a friend to all in the community. She was also the recipient of the Citizenship Award, which personified her unselfishness, leadership, and willingness to always help others, without any motive besides caring. Her legacy to us is one of kindness and gentleness. Alex was pursuing her higher education and was excited about her future.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to New Hartford Central School District, Attn: Kim Hibbard, 29 Oxford Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413, to establish an Alexandra Kogut memorial award. Alex lived her life according to the quote by Ida Scott Taylor: "Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone, and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering."
