DODGE CITY - Henry C. "Huck" Wright Jr., 87, died Feb. 18, 2005, at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City.
He was born March 26, 1917, at Dodge City, the son of Henry C. "Heinie" and Nina Myrl Dye Wright. A lifetime Dodge City resident, he graduated from Dodge City High School, Dodge City Junior College and the University of Kansas. He was co-owner of Wright's Potato Chip Co. until 1956 worked as a representative of Waddell and Reed Inc. Mutual Funds of Kansas City and Bush and Co. Mortgage Bankers of Wichita retiring in 1979.
He belonged to St. Cornelius Episcopal Church and Howard Gotschall Post No. 1714 VFW, both at Dodge City. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II as a member of the 314th Fighter Bomber Squadron of the 324th Fighter-Bomber Group in the North African Campaign, receiving a Bronze Star Medal in 1943 and in the European Theater of Operations.
On May 29, 1947, he married Dorothy May Wright at Dodge City. She died in 1996. In 1997, he married Bernetia Mizer.
Survivors include: cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lee; and a sister Yvonne Wright Hamby.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City. Entombment will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Scroggins Mausoleum.
Memorials may be sent to the Dodge City Public Library, in care of the funeral home.
