"Former Resident Dies in Atlanta; Rites Here Today // Raleigh Leo BROOKS, 52, died at his residence in Atlanta yesterday at 4 a.m. following an illness of a week. // Born Jan. 16, 1900, in Columbus, Mr. BROOKS lived here until he moved to Atlanta about 18 years ago. He was an automobile mechanic. // Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Annie BROOKS, Atlanta; three sons, Raymond E. and Robert E. BROOKS, Phenix City, and John E. BROOKS, Atlanta; a daughter, Mrs. W. C. STRINGFELLOW, Phenix City; his father, Ed BROOKS, Columbus; 10 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. // Funeral will be held at 4 p.m. today at Britton and Dobbs Chapel with the Rev. W. B. Per Britton & Dobbs Funeral Home Records, 1889-1971 (transcribed and edited by Patsy Daniel Wright, 2010), p. 1364: Mr. Rollie Lee BROOKS, residing on Route 1, Phenix City, Ala., died 02 OCT 1952, aged 52 years, 8 months, and 16 days, cause of death not reported (shows that remains were "shipped in"), attending physician Atlanta, Georgia, doctor; buried 04 OCT 1952 at Patrick.
Per Georgia Death Index: Raleigh L. BROOKS, White male, died 02 OCT 1952, aged 52 years, in Fulton County, Georgia, as a resident of the same county, death certificate #23132.
This grave is not identifiably marked. It is perhaps either in the J. G. DAVIS lot, at the north end of Rows 4 & 5 in the Old Section (Section 1, per June Hanna's 1982 survey listing), or perhaps in the BROOKS lot at the north end of Row 2 in the same section.
