|Death: ||Jul. 1, 1910|
This grave is marked by a headstone flush with grade, the lettering of which has broken away and become scattered; no other markings can clearly be made out. It appears that the central part of the headstone is for Celestia and two flanking portions are perhaps for infants? This grave is located in the southwest corner of the J. G. DAVIS lot, at the north end of Rows 4 & 5 of the Old Section (Section 1, per June Hanna's 1982 survey listing).

PYE, of Columbus. // Mrs. BROOKS is survived by her husband, Mrs. E. S. [?] BROOKS; her parents, and two brothers, Curbey B. and Luther L. PYE, all of Columbus. // She was a member of the Comer Memorial Baptist church and deeply interested in all church work. // The funeral services will be held at the residence Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. "MRS. E. H. BROOKS BURIED SATURDAY // Funeral was Held From Residence, With Interment in the Country. // The funeral of Mrs. E. H. BROOKS, who died at her home, 1205 Nineteenth street, Friday night, was conducted at the residence Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, by Rev. A. D. WOODIE, pastor of the Comer Memorial Baptist church, of which Mrs. BROOKS was a consistent member. // The pall bearers were Messrs. H. L. LIVINGSTON, W. D. BOOTH, Charles JONES, Tobe KIMBROUGH, J. F. SLAUGHTER and W. B. DURAN. // Interment was in the Patrick burial grounds, four miles east of Columbus." [Columbus (GA) Enquirer-Sun newspaper, Sunday, 03 JUL 1910, p. 7.]
Died aged 28 years, so evidently born about 1882. Daughter of W. E. PYE. Married Edgar S. BROOKS (the first of his four wives, and probably kin to his third wife, Mrs. Indiana (PYE) VOSS); Alma Celestia is listed in his 1904 Columbus city directory household. She evidently died of complications from the birth of her daughter Johnnie Lee BROOKS, who was born 30 JUN 1909 and only lived a few hours.
