Eugene Harry Sarchione, 69, 22881 Alliance-Sebring Road, was pronounced dead on arrival at Alliance Community Hospital at 1:58 p.m. Wednesday, following a sudden illness.
Mr. Sarchione was associated with the family auto sales business of Sarchione and Sons before retiring in 1982.
He was born Sept. 9, 1918, in St. Louis, Mo., to Joseph and Fannie Caravella Sarchione, and lived in Alliance for most of his life.
Mr. Sarchione served in the U.S. Army Air Corps for 11 years, and was a veteran of World War II. He was a flight chief in the 12th Bomber Command, and a line chief for the 15th Bomber Command in Italy.
Mr. Sarchione received the Soldier's Medal of Honor, the European Theater Ribbon with five battle stars, the Soldier's Medal of Heroism, the Good Conduct Medal, and Pre-Pearl Harbor Ribbon, and Aerial Engineering Wings.
He was a member of the J. E. McFadden Masonic Lodge 697, Scottish Rite (Valley of Canton), Al Koran Temple, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 50, and United Commercial Travelers.
