STANLEY M. JONES CRUSED BY TRUCK
Spotsylvania Man Instantly Killed. Mrs Jones and Daugher Hurt.
Stanley M Jones, 30, resident of the Wildreness section, was killed outright and his wife, Rettie, 31, and seven-year-old daughter, Lorrine, were painfully injured when a truck, in which they were going to make a Sunday morning call on Mrs. Jones' father, Will Chewning, who lives near Paytes, become uncontrollable and overtunred half mile from Mine Run about 11 o'clock yesterday morning.
Two other Jones children and Berkley Jones, brother of the dead man, were unhurt in the accident, although they suffered slightly from shock. They were not admitted to the hospital, where Mrs. Jones and daughter were resting satisfactory today, the former with a badly lacerated scalp and the other with severe cuts.
Started on Visit
The six people set out in Jones' truck for the home of William Chewning, where they were to spend the day. Within half a mile of Mine Run the driver lost control of the machine in some unexplained manner. The truck ran into a ditch, followed it for twenty-five yards before overturning and crushing Jones to death.
The injured mother and her daughter were hurried to the Mary Washington Hospital, but the father's body was not brought here.
The Jones family were tenants on the farm of W.C. Kuper, who operates a plumbing shop in Fredericksburg.

Find A Grave Memorial# 9794256
For my grandmother, Elsie Virginia Jones whose heart was deeply scarred by the tragic loss of her big brother. I found a note with Stanley's name and address on it, neatly folded away in her billfold that was still there when she died 61 years later.|
