Mrs. Mattie Jones

A funeral service will be held for Mrs. Mattie Ann Jones at the Johnson Funeral Home in Locust Grove Thursday with interment in the Wilderness Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Jones, 83, of the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, died Tuesday at her home. The widow of Calvin M. Jones, she was a native of Orange County.

She is survived by two sons, Lee Jones of Spotsylvania and Alvin Jones of Washington, and seven daughters, Mrs. Myrtle J. Garrett, Mrs. Dallas J. Weyer, Mrs. Bessie J. Burton, Mrs. Rhodetta J. Lewis, Mrs. Virginia J. Trussell, Mrs. Carrie J. Perry and Mrs. Alice J. Butler.

A very appropriate symbol, since I cannot recall a time when that she didn't read from her bible by the light of flickering flame. My very lovely great grandmother.
