He met composer Pedro Flores in 1938 in New York City, and became a member of his band Quarteto Flores.He recorded hundreds of memorable songs, but his most famous were: "Tú serás mía", "Irresistible", "Bigote de Gato", "Esperanza inútil", "Perdón", "Mayoral", "Venganza", "Amor", "Olga", "Yo no sé nada", "Hay que saber perder", "La número 100", "Bella mujer", "Margie", "Prisionero del mar", "El último adiós", "Borracho no vale, "Bella mujer", and "Guaracha amorosa", and "Despedida". But of all his hits, the greatest one was "Linda."Santos died on November 27th , 1992, and was buried in the Santa María Magdalena de Pazzis (Cementerio Antiguo) cemetery in Old San Juan.
