Mr. Loyce James Kelley, age 83, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2012. He was born February 2, 1929, in Walton County, Florida, to Butler and Ethel Williams Kelley.
Mr. Kelley was a resident of Walton County. He was Baptist by faith and a Charter Member of Indian Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and a Trustee, until his health would no longer allow. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving his country in the United States Navy. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and also as the Cemetery Supervisor for Magnolia Cemetery for many years. He loved gardening and was very talented in growing vegetables and flowers. He did woodworking, especially making bird houses, bird feeders and picture frames.
Mr. Kelley is preceded in death by his father and mother, his first wife, Juanita Kelley; one sister, Doshia Bray; four brothers, Joe, Wilber, Curtis and Charles Kelley; two granddaughters, Kelly Estep and Karen Keefe; one great-great grandson, Joshua Watson; and one son-in-law, Greg Ratliff.
Mr. Kelley is survived by his wife, Gwen Kelley of DeFuniak Springs; three sons, Curtis Kelley and wife Colleen of Rolla Missouri, Loyce James Kelley, Jr. and wife Marie of Osteen, Florida, and Glenn Kelley and wife Kristy of St. Cloud, Florida; step-sons, Glenn Martin and wife Becky of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Roger Martin and wife Brenda of Crestview, Florida, Gregory Martin and girlfriend Jan Pickering, Larry Martin and wife Lynne of DeFuniak Springs, and Jerry Martin and wife Valerie of Orlando, Florida; three daughters, Delores Ratliff of DeFuniak Springs, Belinda Kelley and fiancÚ Lynn Carter of DeFuniak Springs, and Terrie Owens and husband Lee of DeFuniak Springs; one brother, Alvin Kelley and wife Sherry of South Carolina; three sisters, Catherine Clausen, Maudree Brown, and Ruby Pfahlert, all of DeFuniak Springs. Mr. Kelley is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, 9 great great-grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren, special grandson Charlie Kelley, and special granddaughter Jolinda Eddins.
Memorial services: 11:00AM, Monday, October 1, 2012 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, Reverends Scot Keppel and David Amason officiating. Comments by Covenant Hospice Chaplain, Bud Morgan.
Private burial: in Magnolia Cemetery at a later date.
