Funeral services for Julius Paul Lambert, 83, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel on the Old Sunset Road in Opelousas with burial in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. The Rev. Robert Courville will conduct the services.

Mr. Lambert died Thursday at 12:15 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes in Lafayette. He was born in the Plaisance section of St. Landry Parish to William Paul Lambert and Noelie Luminais Lambert. He spent most of his life in Opelousas
were he graduated from Opelousas High School, attended SLI in Lafayette, completed a course in Surveying in the U.S. Army, graduated from Sullivan School of Navigation in New Orleans and sailed with Army Transport Service during World War II. He owned and operated Lambert Auto Sales after which he was a salesman at Diesi-Pontiac and Daly Motors.

During the administration of Gov. John J. McKeithen he was appointed by the Gov. McKeithen to serve on the Board of Alcoholic and Beverage Control. He also is a retired member of the La. Horsemen's Association, having been an owner, breeder and trainer of thoroughbred horses. He is a life member of BPO Elks Lodge 1048 of Opelousas.

His survivors are his wife of 53 1/2 years, the former Rita Martin Lambert of Bristol. His children are Juliette Lambert Lastrapes and her children, Chad Lastrapes and Dawn Trahan of Lafayette; William Paul Lambert and wife Karen and daughter, Lauren of Baton Rouge; Albert Joseph Lambert and Robin and Albert Joseph Lambert Jr. of Opelousas; Theresa Lambert of Lafayette and children, Amy, William, Travis and David; Mary Lambert Schneider and daughter Tiffany of Opelousas.

Martin Anthony Lambert and wife Roni and children Josh, Jacob, Kandi and Adam of Opelousas; Fern Lambert Carr and husband Brian and children Brian and Sarah of Metairie.

Phyllis Lambert Hymel and husband Gerald Hymel Jr. and children Kyle and Ross of Metairie. Also he leaves five great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be observed from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 10:30 a.m. Friday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the Old Sunset Road in Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.
